Famous Trains commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Cromford and High Peak Line closure.

Famous Trains is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the closure of the Cromford & High Peak line in the Derbyshire Peak District.

Our member Tony Clarke, aided by volunteer Connor, has put together a model of the last train to climb the 1 in 14 Hopton incline, BR's steepest, in which two Class J94 0-6-0 saddle tanks, Nos, 68006 and 68012, pulled four brake vans loaded with railway enthusiasts up the hill in 1967.

In the picture below, this train is seen in our model Chinley yard ready to depart in order to climb the steep branch line that passes our High Peak Farm.
